Toyoda, M apology insisted that there is no design defect

Toyota Motor Corp. President Akio Toyoda told U.S. lawmakers Wednesday that he was 'absolutely confident' there was no design flaw in the company's electronic throttle control system, despite doubts raised by one of his own executives and the U.S. Transportation secretary in earlier comments. Mr. Toyoda and Yoshimi Inaba, head of Toyota's North American operations, outlined a series of steps to add new safety features to Toyota vehicles, and vowed the company would be more open about safety problems in the future. Mr. Toyoda's testimony came during the second of two back-to-back congressional hearings into the way the Japanese auto giant handled a rash of safety concerns that have led to the recall of about eight million vehicles world-wide. Mr. Toyoda's appearance is part of a broader campaign by the car maker founded by his grandfather to turn around a collapse in sales and customer trust in the company's most important overseas market.
my opinion
Toyoda is the most famous car in the world. This problem about recall the car has happened for a long time, but it is is not solved until today. This case has been discussed many times. It is very bad for toyoda, but the 53-year-old Mr. toyoda took responsibility for the company's problems and pledged to restore trust among Toyota owners. This problem not only hammered its sales and could cost it money but also make people feel disappoint about toyoda.
